The 3 Best Ways to ‘Argue’ with your Spouse

No relationship is perfect. We all have our disagreements…some more than others. Anyone that says they don’t are simply delusional and are not being real with themselves or those around them.

Lord knows I have had my share of arguments with my spouse! LOL However, arguments don’t always equate to things being bad or non-repairable in a relationship…the end of the world if you want to be really dramatic. I view arguments as an opportunity for persons to passionately express themselves on the their stance regarding a specific topic and/or issue. I even think an argument here and there is healthy. HOW you argue is what can make things bad or even worse than what the argument is really about.

Since being married, I’ve learned the following are the best ways to ‘argue’ with your spouse:

3. Don’t!

Sometimes, silence is best! It limits confusion and any additional stress. Besides, people can’t argue with themselves. I mean, they can but they’ll look stupid doing it.

2. Make your point and shut the hell up!

No need in going back and forth, yelling, fussing and cussing. Nor do you need to hit below the belt and throw insults. Say what you mean, mean what you say and keep it moving.

1. Break out in Prayer!

To some, this might sound silly, but it works! When you find yourself in the midst of an argument and the other person is clearly not trying to listen to understand your point of view and insists on being combative, pause, reach deep down within and go into prayer! I’m talking about a prayer so mighty that your spouse becomes silent because he/she is confused by the change of events. That demon that is trying to take over your spouse won’t like that at all…Trust me! Now nine times out of ten, your spouse will look at you like you’re crazy because you started praying out of left field during an argument. The Win? You’re not arguing anymore and you’re back on the path to peace being restored!

What are some productive ways you’ve found when it comes to arguing with your spouse or significant other?
