Springtime Family Fun!

Spring is my favorite time of the year! The flowers are blooming. The weather is not too hot or too cold. Beautiful butterflies (the presence of angels) are essentially everywhere. Spring is such a feel good time for me! You know what else is a feel good time?…FAMILY!

Spring, for some, serves as a prelude to summer. With our ‘new normal’, we aren’t exactly sure how things will be in the the next couple of months. So I have compiled a list of five (5) activities that you can do with your family at or near home this Spring, all while creating new memories.

  1. Pitch a tent and go camping in the backyard. Tell ghost stories, make s’mores, play games, etc. You’ll enjoy the great outdoors but still be close enough to home should an emergency arise. Don’t have a backyard? No problem. Transform your living room into a campground…still LOTS OF FUN!!!
  2. Cook a simple dinner i.e. spaghetti or burgers and fries together. Go all out, wearing aprons and chef hats. Children love feeling needed and given the opportunity to help. You and your spouse serve as a the head chef and the kiddos can be the sous chefs. Such a great bonding experience!
  3. Book a room at a kid-friendly hotel or resort and go on a stay-cation. Being at home all the time can become somewhat depressing, especially if you’re use to being on the go. A stay-cation will change the scenery and gives the perception of a vacation.
  4. Transform your living room into a photography studio and have a family photo shoot. Let the kiddos show their creativity and allow them to give the direction of the shoot.
  5. Transform the patio or driveway into an art studio. Set up tables, chairs, easels, canvases, water paint, aprons, brushes, etc. and allow nature to be your subject of what you will paint. You can get your supplies from your local Ross, Michael’s, Walmart, Target or even Dollar Tree.
